Often, parents tell their children, they can be anything when they grow up. And then there are the parents who must have told their children, they can be many things when they grow up. These children are growing up wired with creativity that must be plugged into more than one exit, or they will short-circuit. And that includes the actors who cross into writing music and lyrics, and play in groups. Of course, their Starpower could first make the reservations and the public, but only true talent continues’ em. Here are the players whose melodies and lyrics have firmly established its credibility as musicians:

30 Seconds to Mars

Helmed by Jared Leto (”Panic Room,” “Requiem for a Dream”), who sings, writes the band’s music and lyrics and plays guitar, 30 Seconds to Mars is a tight, talented, intense machine hard rock. The 2002 debut album received mixed reviews, but their second album went platinum and spawned the singles, “A Beautiful Lie”, “From Yesterday” and “The Kill”, featuring the anguished words Leto ” Look into my eyes / You’re killing me, killing me / All I wanted was you. ”

Dogstar.

No, you do not enter the matrix – Keanu Reeves really play bass in a band called Dogstar 1991-2002. They released an EP and two albums filled with indie-label music and lyrics from the alternative to power-pop. While singer Bret Domrose wrote most of the band’s music and lyrics, Reeves wrote a few songs, Dogstar, including “Isabella”, an ode to the young daughter of a friend and the song Love ‘Round C “, whose title was inspired by – - Get ready – cheese.

Juliette Lewis and the Licks

Actress Juliette Lewis (”Catch and Release,” “Natural Born Killers”) has this front hard rock / alternative rock with his powerful interpretation of words and wild child unhindered movements since 2003. Lewis, who had already sung in the movie, “Strange Days”, became obsessed with forming a group after seeing a concert by Blondie. An Agnostic Mountain Gospel Choir-; SAP Recordings

As wonderful and oddly dark as its name suggests, are the true defenders AMGC last of a musical tradition being lost. Considering that more than assumed???? Americanae???? costumes are those who engage in one???? Countrified???? pop AMGC are plunging in America on???? s musical roots Americana in taking a completely different level, very dilapidated. Each song is a clear cataclysmically observation of the human condition, as raw material and dusty as the Mid-America itself.

2-Blood Red Shoes, V2

Blood Red Shoes company composed of songwriters established between the bands of only two members, Laura-Mary Carter and Steven Ansell. Stressed by their penchant relatively linear narrative music, the main distinction between being â???? Noise???? & A???? Noisia ????, Blood Red Shoes are strangely reminiscent of a stripped-down Velvet Underground. With a monitor 2008a???? S â???? Box Secretsâ???? rumored to be revealed this year, Blood Red Shoes should be overwhelming critical stage festival near you!

3-Language School, Memphis Industries

Language school is strangely hypnotic, strangely sparkling invention behind the central creative field of music, David Brewis. Like a slow moving locomotive, Brewisâ???? creative growth the smallest fragment of music, gaining enormous, reaching the height invigorating to relinquish back again in the fog of Brewisâ???? inventiveness where they came from. With a small tour in the United Kingdom should language school can be one of the most electrifying live acts reclusively year.

4-Anthony & The Johnsons, Secretly Canadian / Rough Trade

Despite a Mercury Music Prize and infinite critical acclaim, Anthony & The Johnsons are still one of the most unjustifiable acts commercially under-estimated in recent memory. With the 2009 version of???? The Lighta cry???? we see The Johnsons reach agreement altogether more optimistic. The melancholy of the mark is still there, but there are moments of undeniable warmth and tenderness, a lot nicer than the discouragement of The Johnsons unrepentant previous offers.

5-Lisa Hannigan Lisa Hannigan

You can recognize that Hannigan singer whose sensual presence built Damien Riceâ???? S debut otherwise relatively bland. Since his premature departure Riceâ???? S backing band, Hannigan began to flourish as an artist in his own right, and seems much better. Hannigan???? S refrains harmless instantly lift you from the monotony of winter unsympathetic, Gentile aura enveloping you totally. Hannigan???? S latest LP, a???? Wed Sewa ????, be an album to warm during the coldest Sunday in February, when all is about frozen.

6-brakes; FatCat Records

Finline 9-Jeff, Yep!

Jeff Finline is consistent supplier of road worn American minimalism, his songs so deeply etched in the lines on his face. With a press of his sixth???? Ballad of a Plain Finline Mana ????, cements his place among the glades of the great American writers. Jeff is one of the best songwriters ever heard. Immediately available, both offline â???? Ballad of the Mana Plain???? are identifiable and worthy multilayer countless listens, but never too intrusive, ATI???? s easy to see why Bruce Springsteen Finline sites as one of his favorite composers.

Paying for music is now just an option for a lot of so many people who made your first million to play pop music that little bit harder. On the positive side, however, music fans have unparalleled access to media and can easily find a new group on myspace then buy songs from bands as an online store eMusic digital or seven years. The bands have yet to pay for expensive studio but saves by not producing the physical product and selling directly to consumers. Is this a viable business model? Well not really. Theres two problems. major labels and majors. I know this is only one, but it’s a big problem. The four major labels do not like the fact that this business model can work because it leaves them nothing to do. To this end, they do not deal with the download sites that encode the music files they sell so that music can not be shared with other fans. The fact that the consumer is now in a position more powerful than they were before they dislike. They still have almost all the power because they have the clout to get songs played on radio, videos on the box and the bands on the road. The public also look at the labels that opinion leaders and that is where the power really there. Ask any group of serious just beginning that there is objective. Ninety percent of them say: “to get signed.” Why?, Because until you are logged in, you’re not a real band, not in the public eye. Ive had people tell me. I love your album, it sounds like a real band. The labels were created to find, print, distribute and promote music artists. They were needed. Music has more need to be distributed or pressed so that leaves only the research and promotion. To promote there social networks like MySpace, social media sites and many (I hate to say the dreaded word u) networks unsigned . To help people find new music there are search engines and search engine optimization. The only downside I see the plan is whether people will listen to new music, they havent heard of before. Rock music began to develop and show up as a new type of music in the 1940s and 1950s, and it quickly developed and spread throughout the United States and the world. Rock bands used a mix of many other types of musical styles and genres that had come before it to develop a brand new and exciting sound. Rock punk gothic, heavy metal and many other types of rock bands today can all trace their roots back in history to the original rock bands and the start of rock’n’roll.

Popular cultural figures have inspired fashion trends for generations, and rock bands are no exception. In fact, rock bands are often the main influence in many popular styles since it first developed in the music scene. Vintage clothes, dressing glam and wearing other related merchandise not only represents your musical style but also makes a personal statement. Rock bands have also greatly contributed to the popularity of the t-shirt.

The t-shirt developed from longer underclothes worn during the turn of the last century. By World War II, the t-shirt as we know it today had been developed and began to grow in use and popularity, although most often was still used only as an under garment. In the 1930s, companies such as Sears, Hanes and Fruit of Loom began to mass market the t-shirt. In the 1950s, James Dean forever popularized the look of the t-shirt as outerwear. This decade also ushered in the first uses of promotional messages seen on t-shirts. The sixties brought in the era of the tie-dye t-shirt shirt and other t-shirts with political and social messages.

The music industry began to realize the fashion and marketing potential in the music band t-shirt throughout the 1970s and 1980s. By this time, there were also better fabric blends as well as better picture and lettering methods that created higher quality. The era of music band t-shirts also came at a time when clothing could now be mass-produced on a much larger scale. The black band t-shirt is now thought as much a part of rock bands as any other accessory. This includes rock, punk, gothic and heavy metal as well as the many other branches of rock music.

When a band becomes massive it’s always nice to be the smug person who can claim to seeing them play when know one else knew who they were. Everyone is bound to think that you are the coolest person they know and treat you like some kind of god. Well not really, but if you do want to see some bands headed for the big time, then here are my tips for the hot bands on small stages this summer.
The Brute Chorus. I have seen the Brute Chorus play in London a couple of times and at Glastonbury this year on the BBC ‘introducing’ stage. They are signed to Bumpman records (The Hawley Arms label). They have a bluesy folk sound but dirty and rough around the edges. Fans of Nick Cave or The White Stripes would appreciate this band. Catch them at Greenbelt Festival in Cheltenham, 25th August or at Grassroots Festival in Peterborough 6th September.
The Wave Pictures have been together for a quite a long time and the past year has seen them gigging more and release ‘Instant Coffee Baby’ on Moshi Moshi. You can catch them at The End of the Road Festival in September and I would expect by the end of this summer they will be very big. The Wave Pictures have been one of my favourite bands of this year and I really believe in their world domination potential. They are truly brilliant.
The Runaway Sons are another band about to explode. Lead singer Jim Gipson had been solo for about a year and had supported Bert Jansch and been on tour with Richard Hawley. Early this year he formed The Runaway Sons with close friends Andy Gaines, Benn Chord and Claude Trejonis. The Runaway Sons play bluesy rock and Jims voice has been compared to both Buckley’s, Gram Parsons and Robert Plant. Their live performance is always breath-taking. They have recently supported MGMT, Feeder and had a residency at Proud Galleries, Camden. Catch them at V Festival, 16th August at Chelmsford and 17th at Stafford.
Rosie Oddie and the Odd Squad are one of the most interesting new bands on the scene at the moment. The sound is unique, well crafted pop that will be filling indie dance floors across the country very soon. They stand apart from their peers in many ways, one of the most obvious being Rosie’s inimitable dress sense which has caught bazaar magazines eye as well as several newspapers, winning much admiration. They have had singles released on Bloody Awful Poetry’s label and you will be able to catch them at Bestival this summer.
Mumford and Sons are part of the new West London folk scene, which includes Noah and the Whale who are already set for soaring success, and Laura Marling who was recently nominated for the Mercury Prize. Marcus Mumford fronts the band (and drums for Laura Marling), the songs are full and sublime and beautiful. Listen to the gorgeous ‘White Blank Page’ and you will fall in love with Mumford and Sons instantly. They too will be gracing The End Of The Road festival to offer the crowds a heavenly bluegrass, folk experience.
So they are my top tips for the big time this summer. I hope you get a chance to check them out.
