But this is not a scary journey they take you. Songs like “Someone’s Missing” are always enthusiastic at times, but if their last record was a celebration with banners, whistles and drums, it is the quiet joy that comes back home after all.

The group said they do not think they will release singles from the album, but if they do “Flash Delirium” is probably the first. The infectious song is a journey, with the support of organ and choral voices behind the voice of Van Wyngarden. The rock becomes more wild as the song progresses, ending in a point that leaves you high and want to hear it again.

One of the pleasures of the coolest on record is in the garage-punk “Brian Eno,” an ode to the white head, high priest of witchcraft strange studio. “I can say it is kind of smile / but what does he know? (What does he know?) / We’re always one step behind him is Brian Eno!
